877-244-6110Brides whose hearts are set on holding their receptions at McNamara Alumni Center—which has enjoyed “Best of Weddings” status with The Knot for 2008 and 2009—will have another space to choose from by Fall 2010. The sought-after University of Minnesota venue, known for its stunning architecture and organic décor, is expanding with a new addition, its first since opening in 2000. “Soon our brides may select from two beautiful reception spaces,” says Amy Leyden, marketing manager, adding that the event staff is eager to say “yes” to more brides. By next fall, tandem receptions can be held in Memorial Hall with its soaring 90-foot ceiling, built-in terrazzo dance floor and water feature, and in a new room (yet to be named), which will boast McNamara-signature copper-and-wood walls and lots of natural light. While Memorial Hall accommodates up to 350 wedding guests, the new 4500 sq. ft. expansion will be ideal for smaller wedding receptions up to 150 guests. This second, distinct event zone will feature room for a ceremony, reception, dining and dancing. Fall 2010 events in the new space may be booked beginning mid-February. Events in the current space may be booked anytime.
